MEDFORD – Rocky Mountain (Mont.) ended the Southern Oregon men's soccer team's season on Saturday evening, 2-0 in the quarterfinal round of the Cascade Conference Championships presented by U.S. Bank at Lithia & Driveway Fields.

Fynn Sweeting scored both goals for the No. 3-seeded Battlin' Bears, who advanced to play No. 4 seed Warner Pacific in Monday's semifinal round.

Moments after SOU keeper Casey Ruvolo saved a penalty kick, Sweeting knocked in a one-timer off of Henry Chalkey's corner kick to give Rocky the lead for good in the 34th minute. Five minutes later he doubled it in transition, converting at the end of a line of slick passes from Aaron Lawson and Ryan Daniel.

Attacking issues persisted for the banged-up, No. 6-seeded Raiders as they were shut out for the fifth time in seven games. They'd only been blanked once in the 14 games that preceded the rough season-ending stretch.

Ruvolo, who was selected to the All-CCC first team for the third time in his career this week, kept them competitive in goal. He finished with seven saves in the final appearance of his career.

The Raiders finished with a 10-5-4 record. The Bears improved to 8-1-7.
