SOU's conference streak stopped at No. 15 LC State

LEWISTON, Idaho – The Southern Oregon women's basketball team's Cascade Conference winning streak ended at 40 games with a 62-47 loss to No. 15-ranked Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) on Friday evening at the P1FCU Activity Center.

Sitara Byrd led the Warriors (10-3 overall, 4-1 CCC) with 23 points, seven steals and six rebounds in the first meeting between the teams since last year's CCC Tournament championship game. The all-star senior wing scored 13 in the first quarter while shooting 5-of-6 from the field with three 3-pointers, getting her team out to a 20-9 lead.

A season-high turnover total of 28 and season-lows of two 3-pointers and two offensive rebounds zapped the Raiders (9-4, 4-1), whose last circuit loss had occurred Jan. 12, 2024, at LC State. Their overall winning streak stopped at five games.

Eliza DiGiulio scored 11 points and Keeley Wright had six points and four steals for the Raiders. They outscored the Warriors 29-28 in the second half.

Lindsey Wilson pitched in nine points and seven rebounds, and Darian Herring amassed 11 boards and five assists for LC State, which had advantages of 22-11 in points off turnovers and 14-0 in second-chance points.

SOU was the second team in conference history to win 40 consecutive CCC games. Eastern Oregon's record, established from 2017-19, stands at 48.

The Raiders visit Walla Walla (Wash.) at 6 p.m. Saturday before coming home to face College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon next weekend.
