Raiders wear down Wolves in 4-0 win

ASHLAND — After coming up empty on 23 first-half shots, the Southern Oregon women's soccer team broke through in the second to win 4-0 against Walla Walla (Wash.) in Cascade Conference play on Friday afternoon at Raider Stadium's Laurel Field.

Tori Lasch's 10th goal of the season gave the Raiders (10-2-4 overall, 7-2-2 CCC) the lead in the 52nd minute and Kaylah Bresee followed shortly after with a penalty kick. They hit the 10-win mark for the fourth time in six seasons.

Lasch converted from 11 yards out on the right side to score for the third consecutive match. The sophomore from Ridgefield, Wash., became just the ninth Raider in team history to score 10 or more goals in a season.

SOU amassed 21 shots on goal and 18 corner kicks. Keeper Allanah Rodriguez made 16 saves for the Wolves (0-11-1, 0-10-1).

Bresee's second goal of the year came in the 68th to extend the lead 2-0. The defender from San Mateo, Calif., has made good on two PK tries this year.

The Raider backline allowed only five WWU shots and Ashlyn Fuss made three saves for their sixth shut-out of the season. It was their first in five weeks.

Southern Oregon continued the pressure late in the match, finding goals from Mary Whalen in the 77th and Ava Johnson in the 81st. Whalen's goal was her second of the year after cleaning up a rebounded save from an Alia Villa shot and Johnson's was her eighth after taking a few dribbles from a Carter O'Shea pass and punching in a 14-yarder.

The Raiders will play Warner Pacific (5-5-4, 4-4-3) on senior day, Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
