SOU brings NAIA Scholar Athlete total to 102 with spring honorees

ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon University athletic department produced a near-record number of NAIA Scholar Athletes in 2025-26, bringing its total to 102 as 30 student-athletes from spring sports received the distinction on Wednesday.

To qualify for the status, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 and log one full year at their current institution with sophomore-or-higher academic standing. Only once previously, in 2024-25, had SOU totaled at least 100 such honorees.

The latest batch included 10 softball players, nine track and field athletes, six golfers and five beach volleyball players.
