ASHLAND – A national championship celebration for the history-making Southern Oregon University beach volleyball team is scheduled for Monday, May 18.

Starting at 3 p.m., the team will parade its way from the corner of Mountain Avenue and Siskiyou Boulevard to the front of Lithia Motors Pavilion for a trophy presentation.

The Raiders captured their first title in the program's fourth season of existence on April 25, knocking off defending champion Ottawa (Ariz.) to win the NAIA Invitational.

SOU Hall-of-Famer Paul Elliott, the NAIA Coach of the Year, guided the Raiders to a 24-3 record, also notching Cascade Conference regular season and tournament championships. They produced the NAIA Pair of the Year, Grace Gulbrandsen and Tessa Zimmermann, as well as All-Americans Molly Grace and Kira Sandoval.
