CALDWELL, Idaho – Facing a second undefeated team in as many days, No. 18-ranked Southern Oregon put No. 9 College of Idaho on the ropes before falling in five sets on Saturday afternoon at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Yotes (11-0 overall, 4-0 Cascade Conference) came back to win 25-13, 19-25, 15-25, 25-17, 15-12 and extend the best start in program history. The Raiders (10-4, 2-2) were the first opponent this season to win two of the first three sets against them and just the second to take them to five.
C of I's defense had the final say, recording 16 blocks to keep the Raiders at a season-low attacking average of .098. Senior middle Cora Young assisted 11 of them and had six kills.
SOU had a 7-6 lead in the fifth set until the Yotes went on a 5-1 run, spurred by Kelsy Stanger's two kills and a block she got in on with Young. Stanger had a match-high 14 kills and Cierra Bohrn had 13; they made their contributions on 62 combined attacks.

Maya Watters led the Raiders with 11 kills, while right-side

Marian Vega Castro dropped in nine apiece.
Jadyn Daviscourt's 15 digs marked a new career high, and
Isabelle Foote notched her first double-double with 15 assists, 10 digs and three service aces.
Annie Hite finished with 23 assists and three aces and
Maelle Garon brought in 14 digs.
All four of the Raiders' losses have come against top-15 teams.
They'll remain on the road for Thursday's match at Oregon Tech and return home to face Warner Pacific at 4 p.m. next Saturday.
