EUGENE – Bushnell overmatched Southern Oregon at the net and retained momentum by claiming a marathon second set in a 25-21, 31-29, 25-19 Cascade Conference sweep on Friday night at the Morse Center.
Carly Hanna and Soleil Sands were both in on seven of Bushnell's 15 blocks, a category in which the Beacons (12-5 overall, 5-2 CCC) finished with a plus-12 advantage. Their defensive dominance left the No. 17-ranked Raiders (12-5, 4-3) with a .092 attacking average, the team's lowest of the season.
SOU came back from a 24-22 deficit in the second frame and threatened to even the match with two set-point serves. Taya Blankenship's block with Hanna and her kill on the next point eventually deflated that hope.
Blankenship and Amyah Semau led the match with 12 kills apiece, hitting at a combined .352 clip.
Friley Curtiss paced the Raiders with 10 kills,
Duda Leite had eight and
Tessa Zimmermann added seven.
Annie Hite went for 18 assists and six digs, while
Katie White recorded a career-high 15 digs.
Jadyn Daviscourt chipped in three service aces.
The Raiders play at No. 6 Corban at 4 p.m. Saturday.
