Jasmine grew up in the Southern Oregon area going to high school at South Umpqua where she cheered all four years on the Varsity sideline and competitive team. She earned honor roll, outstanding base, and was the captain throughout her years there. Moving on to college, Jasmine earned a spot on SOU Cheer Team her first and second year where she was the captain. After transferring for one year, she quickly came back to SOU and started cheering again. When Jasmine returned to SOU she decided to double major and added two more years to her academic career, which allowed her to cheer a fourth year. During her senior year she became the Assistant Coach for the SOU Cheer program. After graduating from SOU with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, she went into her second year as the Assistant Cheer Coach. During her time as the Assistant Coach for the SOU Cheer Team she also participated in and helped coach an All-Star Open Level 4 Team through TNT, a local gym, placing second two years in a row. She has learned a lot over the years and is beyond excited to lead the SOU Cheer and Dance program as the Head Coach.

SYDNI WITTE-MONAHAN

Sydni Witte Monahan is an alumnus, attending Southern Oregon University from 2008 to 2012. Sydni cheered her junior and senior year of high school and cheered all four years at SOU as a flier, leading the team as their captain the last three years. While attending SOU, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree of criminal justice, minoring in psychology. She then went on to earn her masters of social work degree from Portland State University; now working as an individual and family mental health therapist in addition to coaching. Over the past 7 years, Sydni has remained an active member of the cheerleading community, either teaching or utilizing her own skills. She has volunteered her time and experience, helping out the SOU cheerleading team as well as her hometown high school cheerleading program. In 2018, Sydni was a member of an adult competitive cheerleading team. Sydni comes to the SOU Cheerleading and Dance program with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

SHAYLA RICE

Shayla Mackenzie Rice is from Kailua, Hawaii. She is currently a student SOU studying communications. Shayla's cheer and dance started at the young age of 4 on a Pop Warner cheer squad. After Pop Warner, she joined first All-star cheer team, North County Elite out of San Diego, CA. After moving to Hawaii, her passion grew and she continued cheering and preforming in many NFL ProBowl pregame and halftime shows. She also cheered for Cheer 808, Aloha Cheer Academy and all four of her High School years at Radford. She had the honor of being captain for the Radford team which held the title of Grand, National and State Champions. As a freshman, she decided to retire her poms and began dancing as an SOU Raiderette. She was privileged to be the captain of the Raiderette team. After her freshman year, she transferred to Adams State University were she came out of retirement and cheered for another year. Shayla has received many awards over the years some being athlete of the year, first team all state & MVP. Cheer & Dance have always been a passion of Shayla's and is where her heart is the happiest.

FAWN JONES

Fawn Jones is an alumnus of Southern Oregon University, graduating with a Bachelor;s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and a minor in Economics. She has been working in the SOU Athletic Department for 4 years as the Athletics Program Specialist and the Cheer & Dance Director. She came to SOU after working in banking as a bank manger for over 10 years. She was in the banking industry for 15 years before coming to work for her Alma mater. Fawn has been in Cheer throughout middle school, junior high and high school. Her teams have competed at the State and National levels and have placed. She has remained passionate in Cheer & Dance. When Fawn came to SOU, she took on the Cheer & Dance programs as the Director and has created exposure for both programs with the help of the Head Coach's and Assistant Coach's that she has hired. She is eager to continue the success of both programs and to help the teams get to the next level.
