Carlton Hall

  • Title
    Linebackers Coach
Veteran coach and former All-Southeastern Conference player Carlton Hall enter his third year as an assistant on Southern Oregon University's football staff in 2019, brought on to boost the defense and oversee the Raider linebackers.

In his first season at SOU, all three starting linebackers were named to the All-Frontier Conference first team: Isiah Carter, Tyson Cooper and Devvon Gage. After his second, Cooper and Gage left with two of the top tackling totals in program history.

Prior to joining the Raiders, Hall was most recently the defensive line and assistant head coach at Northwest Oklahoma State University.

An All-SEC linebacker during his playing days at Vanderbilt University, Hall's coaching career began shortly after he was signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 1998. Since then, he's made stops at Columbia University (2003-05 seasons), Georgetown University (2006), Harvard University (2007-10), University of Houston (2011-12), University of West Alabama (2013), Elon University, Yale University (2014), Williams College (2015) and Northwestern Oklahoma State – primarily as a defensive line coach.

At Harvard, his teams won two Ivy League titles and were perennially among the nation's leaders in defensive ratings. While at Houston, his team won the 2012 Ticket City Bowl and finished No. 14 in the final AP poll. And at Yale, where he was also the head assistant coach, his team went 8-2, ranked second in the league in rush defense (98 yards per game) and became the first Ivy school to defeat a BCS team in 28 years when it topped Army.
