A Raider captain through 2015, Grant Torgerson joined the coaching staff upon completing his playing career and was promoted to defensive line coach prior to the 2017 season.
Torgerson, a product of Oregon City, was a four-year starting long-snapper and also contributed on the defensive line for both Raider teams that advanced to play in the NAIA championship games.
At the 2015 title festivities leading up to the game in Daytona, Fla., Torgerson was recognized as SOU's NAIA Champion of Character. At the end of the season, the Raider coaching staff gave him a "Permanent Captain" title.
Torgerson completed bachelor's degree in communications while serving as a student assistant in 2016. He is the son of Joellen Deverell and the late James Torgerson.
