Josh Winfield

Josh Winfield returned for a second stint on the Southern Oregon University football staff in 2023 and begins his third season back as special teams coordinator and linebackers coach in '25.

Winfield, a Las Vegas native, originally joined the Raiders in 2013 and was the linebackers coach on their NAIA national championship staff in '14, overseeing All-Frontier Conference first-team selections Heston Altenbach and Laurence Calcagno. He was also an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

He departed in 2015 to assist the defensive line at University of South Dakota, then spent six seasons on staff at Las Vegas High School, including two as a defensive coordinator. In his first season back at SOU, the Raiders led all teams takeaways as well as points and yards allowed during Frontier Conference play.

Winfield graduated from University of Mary in 2009, where he lettered all four years as an inside linebacker. He was a team captain as a senior and a member of the top defensive squad in the NSIC in 2007. He earned his degree in business administration. Winfield's high school career included three state title game appearances, including a state championship victory during his senior season.
