Kyle Otineru was hired in July 2017 to become Southern Oregon University's offensive line coach, filling out Raider head coach Charlie Hall's first staff.
In his first two seasons, the Raiders produced three All-Frontier Conference lineman: Josiah Maglente-Tonu, James Porter and Dane Skriloff.
Otineru came to SOU via Buena Vista University (Iowa). He completed his playing days in 2009 at Linfield College, where he was an offensive guard/center and earned a bachelor's degree in business.
Prior to his brief stint at Buena Vista, Otineru spent the 2015 and '16 seasons as the offensive line coach and run-game coordinator at Hastings College (Neb.), where he earned a master's degree in physical education and last helped the team rank 20th in the NAIA in total offense.
A product of Honolulu, Hawaii, he played on the line at Linfield before serving as an offensive line coach and scout team coordinator for the Wildcats during the 2010-13 seasons – a four-year span in which they went 41-5 and were top-20 at the NCAA Div. III level in total offense every season. Between then and his stint at Hastings, he also spent one year guiding the defensive line at Bethel College (Kan.).
