Matt Toblin joined the Southern Oregon coaching staff in 2011 as defensive coordinator. He comes to SOU after spending two years at Clay High School in Florida, where he took over a program that had won three playoff games in 50 years and led the team to a pair of district titles.
Toblin, who served as an assistant at Florida State from 1999-2001, has coached and played for SOU Craig Howard. He worked with Howard at Nease High School as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach from 2004-08. During that stretch, Nease appeared in three state championship contests, won 58 games and limited opponents to an average of 10.5 points per game.
During his final four years coaching at the prep level, 57 players that Toblin coached signed to play college football.
As a student at Florida State, Toblin served as an assistant for Bobby Bowden's football program and helped coach in two national championship games.
