Ty Currie enters his third season on the Southern Oregon University football staff in 2025, and his second as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Months after Currie was promoted in 2024, the Raiders' offense transformed into one of the Raiders' best. They finished their 8-3 season ranked 10th nationally in points per game (43.0) and produced the Frontier Conference's Offensive MVP in sophomore running back Gunner Yates, also a first-team All-American. Yates led the country in rushing yards (1,488) and broke SOU single-season records for rushing touchdowns (27) and total TDs (29), while quarterback Blake Asciutto compiled 18 TD passes compared to just four interceptions.
Currie arrived in Ashland as quarterbacks coach prior to the 2023 season via Western Oregon University as part of first-year head coach Berk Brown's almost entirely new staff. In that role, he helped the Raiders average 230.3 passing yards per game and total 20 passing touchdowns. Their starting quarterback, Asciutto, finished the season with a career-best 58% completion rate.
Currie had been an assistant coach at WOU, his alma mater, since 2020. The Yreka, Calif., product was previously a two-year starting quarterback and three-year captain for the Wolves, compiling 4,272 passing yards and 38 TD passes from 2016-19. He was voted the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year as a senior.
Following his playing days, Currie graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in economics. While coaching, he completed a master's of arts in teaching with an ESOL certificate.
