Southern Oregon University Athletics

The 2013-14 season will be Matt Gerschefske's second as part of the SOU men's basketball coaching staff.

A native of Springfield, Mo., Gerschefske played for the University of Idaho men's basketball team from 1999-2002 and was a two-year starter. He graduated from Idaho with a bachelor's degree in business marketing.

After spending 10 years in the business world, he came to SOU to pursue his master's in teaching, and joined the Raiders just in time to assist with their school-record 25-win season in 2012-13.

Gerschefske's brother, Brooks, lives in Vancouver, Wash., and his parents, Kevin and Shelley, live in Branson West, Mo.
