Zac Olson

Assistant men's basketball coach Zac Olson begins his 10th overall season on staff with Brian McDermott at Southern Oregon University in 2021-22. He also spent three seasons at Cascade College in Portland, where he served as the head coach in 2006-07.

Olson played for coach Chuck Robinson at North Salem High School, George Libbon at Chemeketa Community College, and McDermott at SOU. During the 2002-03 season, he led the Raiders in scoring with 17.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, and his 530 total points still rank in the top-20 in SOU single-season history.

“I had the good fortune to play for three of the best basketball coaches the state of Oregon has seen," Olson says. "The influence each of these gentlemen have had on my life, both on the court and off, has been profound."

Olson earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from SOU, where he has worked in the Office of Admissions since 2008. He and his wife, Kari, have a daughter, Stella, and a son, Indy.
