Roseburg High School’s Tyler Lander has signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle at Southern Oregon during the 2009-10 season.
Lander comes to SOU after an impressive career at Roseburg, which featured State Championships at the prep level, in Greco roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling - making him a rare triple crown winner.
“Tyler is a very impressive wrestler,” SOU head coach Mike Ritchey said. “He’s had a lot of success and we confident that will continue into his college career. It’s also nice to get another wrestler out of the Roseburg program.”
Lander wrestled for his dad Steve Lander at Roseburg and SOU’s Trevor and Mitch Lofstedt both wrestled at Roseburg.
Lander is a three-time State Championship placer and claimed the State Championship as junior. Even though he battled injuries as a senior, Lander finished his high school career with a 138-22 record.
Lander will wrestle at 133 pounds for SOU.
Lander will join Grants Pass’ Justin Eldred and McNary’s Jordan Lowe as SOU’s first three recruits.
