Southern Oregon seniors Jacki Speer and Ashley Baker have earned postseason honors handed out by the Cascade Conference Sunday evening.
Speer was named the conference’s Co-Player of the Year and Baker was named Honorable Mention All-Conference. Speer shared the Player of the Year honors with Evergreen State’s Jessica Wilkerson.
Speer led the Cascade Conference in scoring (20.6) and rebounding (13.8). She also ranked second nationally in rebounding and fifth in scoring.
Speer’s career will go down as one of the most impressive in school history. For her career, Speer broke six career or season records. Those records include career rebounds (1,358), season rebounds (428), free throws made in a career (612), free throws made in a season (238), free throw attempts in a career (841) and free throw attempts in a season (329).
She also set single-game records for rebounds (28) and free throws attempted (21).
She also finished in the top five on numerous other lists and just missed breaking the career scoring record. Speer finished with 1,864 points, just one point shy of Melissa Bogh’s 1,865 points.
For her career, Speer averaged 15.1 points and 11 rebounds and was named All-Conference three times and Freshman of the Year as a freshman.
Baker, despite battling early season injuries, finished the conference season strong and averaged 7.7 points and 7.2 rebounds. For her career, Baker finished ninth on SOU’s career rebounding list with 606 rebounds.
The Raiders finished the season 20-11 overall and advanced to the Cascade Conference postseason tournament for the fourth straight year.
