Freshman
Holly Haga (Central Point, Ore. /Crater) made the most of her first collegiate track meet by winning both the shot put and discus at today's 22nd annual Artie Sullivan Invitational at Raider Stadium.
In all, the Raiders won 12 events in the meet that featured teams from SOU, Oregon Tech, College of the Siskiyous and Southwestern Oregon Community College.
Haga, a freshman from Central Point, cruised to victories in both events. In the discus, Haga won with a throw of 130-08. Teammate Katie Higgins finished second with a throw of 107-08.
In the shot put, Haga won with a toss of 36-07.75. Oregon Tech's Sarah Shelb finished second at 34-09.50.
Southern Oregon also came away with three victories in the distance events. Freshman
Seena Frantz (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) won the 3,000 in 10:36.88,
Levi Roudebush (Grants Pass, Ore./North Valley) won the 1,500 in 4:02.61 and
James Johnstone (Lake Arrowhead, Calif./Rim of the World) won the 5,000 in 15:39.73.
Other victories for the Raiders included
Dennis Olstedt (Seaside, Ore./Seaside) in the 400 hurdles (55.50),
James Billstine (Tillamook, Ore./Tillamook) in the javelin (178-07),
Denali Cox (Ontario, Ore./Ontario) in the 200 (26.66),
Maggie Converse (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) in the 400 (1:03.60),
Amy Nelson (Eugene, Ore./Henry D. Sheldon) in the 400 hurdles (1:08.70), Travis Patten won the pole vault (13-06) and the women's 4 x 400 relay team (4:18.06).
The Raiders will host Willamette in a dual meet next Saturday at 1 p.m.
