LA GRANDE – Southern Oregon University put 14 basketball players on the winter 2014-15 U.S. Bank Academic All-Cascade Collegiate Conference team, which was released Thursday evening by the conference office.

That number represents over half the total number of SOU players who have been in school long enough to be eligible for the honor. To earn recognition, one must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 and at least sophomore academic standing.

Eight players represented the 12^th-ranked Raider women's basketball team: Tiani Bradford (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City), Autumn Durand (Onalaska, Wash./Onalaska), Carly Meister (Elma, Wash./Elma), Bree Park (Bellingham, Wash./Meridian), Majerle Reeves (Longview, Wash./Mark Morris), Demi Sahlinger (Napavine, Wash./Napavine), Kristen Schoenherr (Rainier, Wash./Rainier) and Kristin Smeaton (Dillingham, Alaska/Dillingham).

Six got kudos from the 10^th-ranked SOU men's team: Jacob Kaler (Camas, Wash./Camas Valley), Justin Martin (Central Point, Ore./Crater), Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg), Tim Weber (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg), Jordan West (Gymea Bay, Australia/Port Hacking) and Joel Spear (Adelaide, Australia/St. Michaels).

Kaler, Martin, Meister, Spear, Thompson and Weber were all repeat selections.

In all, 89 CCC basketball players made the list. Only Corban had more representatives than SOU.
