SEATTLE — Three Southern Oregon women's mile runners had a successful Sunday with qualifying marks at the University of Washington Indoor Open, the Raiders' final meet prior to the NAIA Indoor Championships.

In the women's mile, Jessa Perkinson and Kayle Blackmore became automatic qualifiers for the national meet and Natalie Berania notched a 'B' time at Dempsey Indoor Facility. Perkinson was 11th of 58 overall in 4:59.87, running 10 seconds faster than her previous outing and moving into the No. 5 spot on the NAIA list. Blackmore was 15th in 5:04.04, getting under the 'A' standard by three seconds while winning her flight and taking the No. 8 spot nationally. And Berania, who needed 5:11 or better for a 'B,' came in at 5:10.44 and was 31st overall.

Both relay teams won their heats but just missed 'B' marks. 3 minutes 23.5 seconds right on the nose. SOU's men's quartet of Dylan Castle, Joseph Dotson, Cedric Quartey and Matt East finished in 3 minutes 23.5 seconds and was fourth of 19 teams overall.

The women's team – consisting of Loghan Sprauer, Rakayla Tyler, Savannah Greenwade and Arianna Daniel – needed 4:02.4 for a 'B' mark and finished in 4:03.33. They were fourth, too, of 15 total teams.

The Raiders also impressed in the 60 meters: Zac Hannan was third of 83 entries in 6.96 seconds, Matt East was fourth in 6.99 and Cameron was 29th in 7.15. For the women, Rakayla Tyler (7.94) and Arianna Daniel (8.00) led the way in 15th and 26th, respectively, of 81 runners.

Hannan added a 15th-place showing in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 8.55, and Zach Beltz had another top finisher in sixth of 55 in the long jump with a best of 22 feet 1 1/2 inches.

The NAIA Indoor Championships will be held March 2-4 in Johnson City, Tenn.
