Southern Oregon wrestlers claimed two championships at today's Mike Clock Open hosted by Pacific University in Forest Grove.
Freshman
Mitchell Lofstedt (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) and senior
Seth Roy (Sherwood, Ore./Sherwood) claimed championships with impressive victories.
Lofstedt, in his first collegiate tournament, pinned Southwestern Oregon Community College's Thomas Gowing in 2:33 to claim the title at 125 pounds. Roy won the title at 149 with a 14-5 major decision victory over Clackamas Community College's Billy Goldsberry.
The Raiders also had four wrestlers finish second. Junior
Barry Johnson (Dayton, Ore./Dayton) dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision to Oregon State's Michael Mangrum at 141, while red-shirt freshman Tommy Hooper fell at 157,
Chase Locke (Tualatin, Ore./West Linn) at 197 and Jon Bates at Heavyweight.
Justin Mills (Lakeport, Calif./Clear Lake) (157), Jon Harrison (197) and
Sam Sprauer (Woodburn, Ore./Silverton) (Hwt) all finished in fourth place for the Raiders.
SOU hosts Menlo and Simon Fraser in a three-way dual event Friday starting at 11 a.m. at McNeal Pavilion.
