A perfect night by brothers Mitch and Trevor Lofstedt (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) led the fourth-ranked Southern Oregon University wrestling team to a pair of dual meet victories today at McNeal Pavilion.

The Raiders downed NCAA Division II San Francisco State 31-6 and then defeated NAIA Oklahoma City 30-9.

SOU improved 4-1 on the season and hosts NCAA Division I Portland State Monday night at 7 p.m.

In the dual against San Francisco State, freshman Mitch Lofstedt got the Raiders started off on the right foot with a decisive 7-0 victory over Curtis Schurkamp at 125 pounds. Schurkamp entered this week ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II.

Senior Trevor Lofstedt (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg), ranked fourth in the NAIA at 133, followed that with a pin of Naveed Bagheri in 4:18.

Barry Johnson (Dayton, Ore./Dayton) (141), Seth Roy (Sherwood, Ore./Sherwood) (149), Tommie Hooper (Burns, Ore./Burns) (157), Shaun Ceremello (Clovis, Calif./Clovis) (184), Chase Locke (Tualatin, Ore./West Linn) (197) and John Bates (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City) (Hwt.) all scored victories for the Raiders over the Gators.

Against Oklahoma City, Mitch Lofstedt opened with a forfeit victory and Trevor Lofstedt (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) gave SOU a 9-0 lead with a 3-1 victory over Justin Blumer.

SOU went on to win the first five matches to cruise to victory.

“Mitchell and Trevor really helped set the momentum that we wanted against San Francisco,” SOU Head Coach Mike Ritchey said. “For Mitch to beat their best wrestler put them on notice. Trevor is starting to get his passion where it needs to be. He looks like he's ready to focus on wrestling after a big term academically.”
