The Southern Oregon volleyball team continued its winning ways tonight with a 25-18, 26-24,25-21 victory over 17th-ranked Oregon Tech at Danny Miles Court in Klamath Falls.

With the win the Raiders moved into a first place with tie with a 6-1 Cascade Conference record and an 8-7 overall mark. Oregon Tech fell to 6-1 in conference place and 10-3 overall.

The victory is the fifth straight conference win for the Raiders and in that stretch, the Raiders have yet to drop a set.

Sophomore Samantha Yutzie turned in her best match of her career, finishing with a match-high 16 kills and just three errors for a .481 attack percentage. Junior setter Lindsey Stone (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) finished with 41 assists.

The Raiders set the tone for the match early by hitting an amazing .680 attack percentage in the first set, with 19 kills and only two errors.

The second set was tight throughout, with neither team leading by more than three. Oregon Tech looked poised to even the match with a 24-22 lead, but a kill by Heather Porter (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) and a Tech error tied the set at 24-24. Becky Johnstone (Lake Arrowhead, Calif./Rim of the World) and Yutzie then both came through with big swings to win 26-24 and allow the Raiders to take a commanding 2-0 lead.

The two teams were tied at 12-12 in the third set before an 8-3 run gave the Raiders enough breathing room to wrap up the match.

Mia Wortel (Estacada, Ore./Estacada) finished with nine kills for the Raiders, while Sarah Holgen (Honolulu, Hawaii/Ashland) had eight. Leah Bergstrom (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) and Porter both finished with six kills. Bergstrom accomplished her total with no errors, while Porter had just two errors.

Johnstone and Leanne Stennett (Encinitas, Calif./San Dieguito) both finished with nine digs, while libero Maggie Rivers (Salem, Ore./McNary) had eight digs.

The Raiders travel to Northwest Christian Saturday night.
