The Linfield offense and defense made big plays in overtime as the Wildcats came away with a 14-7 overtime victory tonight in McMinnville.
Linfield improved to 1-1 on the season. The Raiders fell to 1-4 and are now off until they host Western Oregon Oct. 11.
The two teams struggled offensively in regulation and tied at 7-7, the game went into overtime where the Wildcats took control of the ball first.
Linfield took three plays to get the ball down to the Raider 6-yard-line. On a third-and-goal from the SOU 1, Linfield quarterback Cole Franklin battled his way in to the end zone to give the Wildcats a 14-7 lead.
The Raiders began their overtime possession at the Linfield 25-yard-line, but senior quarterback
Bryan Lee-Lauduski (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad) fumbled the snap and Linfield's Paul Nishazaki fell on the football, giving Linfield the victory.
The game was a battle of defenses throughout the night. Linfield finished with 275 yards of total offense and the Raiders finished with 240.
The first half was scoreless as both teams missed a field goal attempt in the second quarter.
The Raiders got on the board first late in the third quarter as
Danny Patenaude (Rocklin, Calif./Rocklin) made a beautiful diving catch on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Lee-Lauduski.
After the two teams traded punts, Linfield opened up the fourth quarter with a touchdown of their own on a Simon Lamson 1-yard rush to tie the game at 7-7.

The Wildcats took over possession of the ball with 10:07 on the clock and methodically marched the ball down the field and had a second-and-goal at the SOU 1-yard-line with 1:06 to play when Lamson fumbled the ball into the end zone and
Thomas Sandoval (Santa Rosa, Calif./Piner) fell on it for the Raiders.

Senior running back
Marlon Rosales (San Jose, Calif./Santa Teresa) went over 100 yards for the second-straight game, going for 105 yards on 21 carries for the Raiders.
Patenaude finished with three catches for 71 yards.
Kevin Harrell (Napa, Calif./Vintage) and Kenrick Baker led the Raider defensive efforts. Harrell finished with a game-high 13 tackles, while Baker went for nine tackles and two tackles-for-loss.
