A pair of Southern Oregon wrestlers went 2-2 at today's prestigious Reno Tournament of Champions.
The one-day tournament featured some of the best wrestlers in the country in NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and Junior College.
Mitchell Lofstedt (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) (125 pounds) and
Brian Jacob (Tillamook, Ore./Tillamook) (133) each went 2-2 on the day.
Chris Platt (Eagle Point, Ore./Eagle Point) (184) and
John Harrison (Susanville, Calif./Lassen) (197) went 1-2.
Lofstedt opened up his day with a pin of Cal State Bakersfield's Frank Lomas. Lofstedt then dropped a 6-4 decision to Boise State's Alan Bartelli to drop to the consolation bracket. After a 12-5 decision over South Dakota State's Aaron Pickrel, Lofstedt's tournament was ended with a pin at the hands of UC Davis' Mark Jay Acosta.
Jacob also opened with a pin before falling to Ohio's Quentin Keyes in the second round. In the consolation bracket, Jacob defeated MSU-Mankato's Matt Myvold before having his day ended.
Southern Oregon is off until an exhibition dual against Yakima Valley at 1 p.m. on Dec. 31.
