Junior Leah Bergstrom (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) turned in a match-high 16 kills as the 21st-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team scored a 24-26, 25-23 25-23, 25-20 victory over Eastern Oregon tonight in LaGrande, Ore.

The Raiders have now won eight in a row and improved to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in Cascade Conference play. Eastern Oregon fell to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in conference.

Southern Oregon travels to 12th-ranked College of Idaho Saturday night. The Coyotes own a 36-match home conference win streak.

Bergstrom's 16 kills came with only three errors. Leanne Stennett (Encinitas, Calif./San Dieguito) added 10 kills and only one error and Sarah Holgen (Honolulu, Hawaii/Ashland) finished with 10 kills.

After taking the first set, Eastern came out and took a 17-14 lead in the second set before the Raiders came firing back. Kills by Bergstrom and Holgen tied the set at 19-19 and an Eastern error made it 20-19. Another Bergstrom kill and a Eastern error helped the Raiders take the second set and tie the match.
Southern then held Eastern to a .031 attack percentage in the third set to get the upperhand and then hit a blistering .444 in the fourth set to wrap up the match.

SOU red-shirt freshman setter Angela Spieker (Bremerton, Wash./Central Kitsap) turned in a career-high 35 assists and Becky Johnstone (Lake Arrowhead, Calif./Rim of the World) added 18 digs.
