The nine-match winning streak of the 12th-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team came to an end tonight at the hands of 17th-ranked College of Idaho, 25-13, 25-16, 28-26 tonight in Caldwell, Idaho.

College of Idaho improved to 12-4 overall and 9-1 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon fell to 12-3 overall and 9-1 in conference play. Southern Oregon travels to Eastern Oregon Saturday night.

Red-shirt freshman Liz Madden (Manson, Wash./Manson) came off the bench to lead the Raiders with eight kills and also three blocks. Senior setter Lindsey Stone (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) finished with 25 assists.

Sarah Harris led an efficient College of Idaho attack with 13 kills and just one error.

The Coyotes made an impressive statement in the first set, turning a 6-4 lead into a 16-5 advantage an route to the first set victory.

College of Idaho won the second set as well before Southern made a run in the third set.

Becky Johnstone (Lake Arrowhead, Calif./Rim of the World) served for three straight points to tie the third set at 17-17.

A service ace by Renee Yomtob (Boise, Idaho/Centennial) gave SOU a 22-21 lead Natalie Scheller (Bend, Ore./Bend) served a winner for a 24-23 SOU advantage.

The Coyotes came back and scored the next two points to hold off the Raiders and then after SOU took a 26-25 lead, scored the final three points to wrap up the match.

The sweep by the Coyotes put the two teams once again in a dead heat atop the Cascade Conference standings. SOU scored an equally impressive sweep of the Coyotes earlier this year in Ashland. If the two teams end up tied atop the conference standings at the end of the season, the tiebreaker to host the conference season falls to number of sets loss during the conference season.
