The 10th-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling team went 2-1 at today's Cal Poly San Luis Obispo duals.

Southern Oregon (3-2) upset ninth-ranked Menlo 22-16, defeated Cal Baptist 31-18 and fell to NCAA Division I Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 36-9.

In the victory over Menlo, a pair of pins helped the Raiders cause.

Tommie Hooper (Burns, Ore./Burns) scored a 43 second pin over Mike Lopez in 43 seconds at 157 pounds and Austin Vanderford (Ninilchik, Alaska/Ninilchik) pinned Kyle Lopez in 1:32 at 174.

Vanderford's victory was followed by a decision by Derek Rottenberg (Red Bluff, Calif./Red Bluff) at 184 and a major decision by Ron Lee at 197 that wrapped up the victory for the Raiders.

In the victory over Cal Baptist, Vanderford and Rottenberg both had pins to give the Raiders the winning margin.

The duo also had the only two victories in the setback to Cal Poly.

Vanderford had an 8-7 victory, while Rottenberg picked up his second pin of the day.

Both Vanderford and Rottenberg finished the day 3-0.

SOU will now take part in Sunday's Reno Tournament of Champions.
