Southern Oregon senior Will Watson (Myrtle Creek, Ore./South Umpqua) will get the chance he's worked his whole life for -- the chance to perform for NFL scouts.

Watson has been invited to attend the Pro Football Elite National Combine June 18-19 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

“This is my shot,” Watson said. “I need to go there and if I do well, hopefully I'll get the opportunity to get invited to a training camp.”

The 6-6, 281-pound defensive end earned the spot at the National Combine after scoring high at the Regional Combine in Los Angeles in early May.

The Regional Combine scores individuals from 1-10 on size, speed, quickness and strength. Watson scored a combined 9.11, well above the 8.60 needed to qualify for the National Combine.

Watson ran a 4.7 in the 40, a 4.35 in the shuttle, turned in a 33.5 vertical leap and had 22 reps of 225 pounds in the bench press.

The National Combine is known for giving undrafted college seniors and free agents an opportunity to perform in front of scouts from the NFL, CFL and UFL.

The event will included athletic testing and extensive position drills.

As a senior for the Raiders this past year, Watson earned NAIA All-Independent honors after leading the team with 10 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks. He also had 42 tackles. He also earned All-Independent honors as a junior with 39 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.
