The 12th-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling team finished third to a pair of NCAA schools at today's Menlo Invitational.
The Raiders finished with 65.5 points, trailing Cal State Bakersfield (103.5) and San Francisco State (86).
Senior Ron Lee was the top individual finisher for the Raiders, taking the championship at 197 pounds.
Lee advanced to the finals with a pair of pins and then wrapped up his dominating day with a 12-1 major decision victory over Embry-Riddle's Shawn Michalek.
Tommie Hooper (Burns, Ore./Burns),
Austin Vanderford (Ninilchik, Alaska/Ninilchik) and
Derek Rottenberg (Red Bluff, Calif./Red Bluff) all finished second for the Raiders.
Hooper had a major decision victory to start out the tourney at 157 and then scored an 11-6 decision over Simon Fraser's Michael Cappus in the semis before falling to Embry-Riddle's Tyler Chang 14-6 in the title match.
Vanderford had a pair of pins and a decision before dropping a heartbreaking 4-3 decision to Cal State Bakersfield's Joey Granata in the championship at 174.
At 184, Rottenberg opened up with a pin and then two decisions to get to the championship match. In the title match, Rottenberg dropped a 12-6 decision to Bakersfield's Troy Goodban.
Tyler Thomas (Salem, Ore./McKay) finished fourth to wrap up SOU's placers.
