The 11th-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling team came away with five individual titles at today's Boxer Open at Pacific University in Forest Grove.
Jordan Lowe (Keizer, Ore./McNary) (133 pounds),
Kyle Wirkuty (Portland, Ore./Centennial) (141),
Jimmy Eggemeyer (Kodiak, Alaska/Kodiak) (149),
Austin Vanderford (Ninilchik, Alaska/Ninilchik) (174) and Ron Lee (197) each came home with first place finishes.
Vanderford had to battle through four matches - all won by decision - to claim his title. Lee went 3-0 in his weight class, beating Oregon State's Ty Vinson by fall in the championship match.
Eggemeyer won his weight class by beating a nationally-ranked Junior College foe.
Lowe and Wirkuty both went 2-0.
Justin Eldred (Grants Pass, Ore./Grants Pass) finished second at 141 and
Robert Ross (Medford, Ore./North Medford) placed second at heavyweight. Also at heavyweight,
Sam Sprauer (Woodburn, Ore./Silverton) finished third.
The Raiders return home next Saturday to wrap up the regular season with a dual against Montana State-Northern. Saturday will also be the dedication ceremony for Bob Riehm Arena, honoring the former longtime wrestling coach.
