The 12th-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling upset fourth-ranked Great Falls at end of the a long day and advanced to the consolation semifinals at the NWCA National Dual Meet Championships at Cedar Falls, Iowa.

The Raiders (6-3) opened the day with a heartbreaking 22-15 setback to No. 3 Grand View, then rebounded for consolation victories over Montana State-Northern (27-14) and Great Falls (22-18).

SOU will face Cumberland (Tenn.) at 9 a.m. (CST) tomorrow morning in the consolation semifinals. Follow the National Duals by Clicking Here.

In the opener against Grand View, the Raiders dropped the final three matches and fell.

The Raiders started quickly against Grand View with Tyler Lander (Roseurg, Ore./Roseburg) (125 pounds) and Jared Dalgleish (Kelso, Wash./Kelso) (133) both coming away with decision victories.

Grand View came back with victories at 141 and 149 when Tommie Hooper (Burns, Ore./Burns) got the Raiders back on the board with a pin at 157. After a Grand View victory at 165, Austin Vanderford (Ninilchik, Alaska/Ninilchik) scored a 3-2 victory at 174 before Grand View closed out the dual with three straight victories.

SOU bounced back against Montana State-Northern, winning six of the first seven matches, including Hooper's second straight pin at 157.

Against Great Falls, the Raiders dropped the opening match at 125 and then went on to win the next four matches - highlighted by pins by Justin Eldred (Grants Pass, Ore./Grants Pass) and Hooper and a major decision victory by Kyle Wirkuty (Portland, Ore./Centennial).
