The run through the consolation bracket for the 12th-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling team ended this afternoon as the Raiders fell to second-ranked McKendree 25-13 in the consolation finals of the NWCA National Dual Meet Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Southern Oregon (7-4) defeated Cumberland 28-16 in the semifinals earlier today.

Tyler Lander (Roseurg, Ore./Roseburg) got the Raiders rolling early against McKendree, scoring a major decision victory at 125 pounds for an early SOU lead.

McKendree came back and won four of the next five matches, with only Tommie Hooper (Burns, Ore./Burns) getting a victory for the Raiders. Hooper defeated Josh Ballard 7-5 at 157 and ended the weekend going 5-0 with four falls.

Austin Vanderford (Ninilchik, Alaska/Ninilchik) and Derek Rottenberg (Red Bluff, Calif./Red Bluff) scored the other victories for the Raiders.

In today's consolation semifinal, the Raiders used numerous big victories to take down Cumberland.

The SOU effort was highlighted by two falls, two major decisions and a technical fall.

Hooper scored his fourth fall in four matches at the National Duals in the matchup at 157 . Hooper scored his victory in 51 seconds. Ron Lee also had a fall at 197.

Vanderford (174) and Tyler Thomas (Salem, Ore./McKay) (184) both had major decisions for the Raiders and Kyle Wirkuty (Portland, Ore./Centennial) had a tech fall victory.
