LA GRANDE, Ore. --
Fourteenth-ranked Southern Oregon saw its five-match winning streak come to an end as the Raiders fell to Eastern Oregon 3-0 (20-25, 23-25, 26-28) in Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball action Friday night.

With the loss, SOU falls to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the CCC. Eastern Oregon improves to 5-6 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The Raiders return to action tomorrow night when they visit No. 8 College of Idaho in a showdown of the two ranked teams in the conference.

Southern Oregon struggled in all three sets, posting its highest attack percentage in the final set at .159. For the match, the Raiders hit only .106, while Eastern Oregon hit .148 in the victory. The opening set stayed fairly even until a 6-1 Mountaineer run turned a slim 11-10 advantage into a 17-11 lead. The Raiders scored four straight points to pull from 20-13 to 20-17, but Eastern Oregon pulled out the 25-20 victory on Rebecca Haight's kill.

Eastern Oregon jumped ahead by six early in the second set at 13-7, but SOU used a 14-7 run to pull ahead briefly at 21-20 on Alisha Crane's attack error. The Mountaineers scored the next three points, but SOU tied it at 23-23 before EOU took the final two points to clinch the second set victory in spite of the Raiders holding EOU to a .000 attack percentage in the set.

The final set included 17 tie scores as the Raiders sought to continue the match. Haight's kill broke a 26-26 tie, and a Sarah Holgen (Honolulu, Hawaii/Ashland) attack error sealed the victory for the home team, giving the Moutaineers only their fourth win over Southern Oregon since 1994.

Holgen saw her streak of consecutive matches with at least 16 kills come to an end, as the senior finished with a team-high 10 kills, but with 10 attack errors for a .000 attack percentage. Angela Spieker (Bremerton, Wash./Central Kitsap) led the Raiders with 14 assists, and Renee Yomtob (Boise, Idaho/Centennial) and Becky Johnstone (Lake Arrowhead, Calif./Rim of the World) each finished with 11 digs.

Haight led the way for EOU with 15 kills, while Stefani Sorensen added 11 in the upset win. Emily Sampson and Jessica Lea shared setting duties and combined for 38 assists, while Kaitlyn Duncan finished the match with 12 digs.
