TOURNAMENT BRACKET
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The third-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling posted a strong opening day performance at the 2012 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals Saturday, dominating Univ. of Cumberlands 39-12 in the opening round and knocking off sixth-seeded Montana State-Northern 35-8 in the quarterfinals at Prairie Capital Convention Center.
The Raiders advance to a semi-final bout with No. 2-seed Grand View Sunday morning at 11 a.m. (C.S.T.). The winner will advance to the 3 p.m. championship bout to face either top-seeded Great Falls or No. 4 Oklahoma City for the national title.

Mitchell Lofstedt (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) defeated Riley Miller by 16-1 technical fall to win the 125-pound weight class. Northern's fourth-ranked Cameron Neiss defeated
Miguel Baltazar (Culver, Ore./Culver) by 6-4 decision in the 133 to make it 5-3 in favor of SOU, but the Raiders won the next five bouts to take a commanding 30-3 lead before MSU-Northern scored again.
Southern Oregon's
Brad Tamashiro (Hilo, Hawaii/Hilo) earned a win by forfeit in the 141, and No. 4
Jimmy Eggemeyer (Kodiak, Alaska/Kodiak) decisioned James Peterson 9-5 to claim the 149. Eighth-ranked
Tommie Hooper (Burns, Ore./Burns) pinned Edward Cheff in 35 seconds in the 157, and No. 8
Derek Mestrovich (Boise, Idaho/Skyview) upset No. 3 Ethan Hinebauch with a pin in 3:21 in the 165.
Ninth-ranked
Brock Gutches (Central Point, Ore./Crater) won the 174 by 12-3 major decision over No. 12 Max Payne before Northern's top-ranked Evan Hinebauch earned an overtime 3-1 decision over No. 2
Austin Vanderford (Ninilchik, Alaska/Ninilchik) in the 184.
Derek Rottenberg (Red Bluff, Calif./Red Bluff) downed Kody Reed in a 15-0 technical fall to give SOU its final five points, and Northern's Nick King finished out the dual with an 8-4 victory over
Ethan Hinton (Sequim, Wash./Sequim) in the 285. A misconduct penalty took one point away from Montana State-Northern to set the final tally at 35-8 in favor of the Raiders.

Kyle Wirkuty (Portland, Ore./Centennial) earning a 7-5 decision over No. 7 Jered Medina in the 141.
Eggemeyer decisioned No. 6 Anthonie Linares 9-6 to win the 149, with Hooper pinning James Holland in 25 seconds to take the 157 and start a streak of four consecutive pins for SOU. Fourth-ranked
Brian Lemmon (Heppner, Ore./) pinned No. 10 Zachary Barkett in 3:38 to take the 165, and Gutches pinned Justin Dillinger in 36 seconds to win the 174.
Vanderford pinned Jeremy Gardner in 3:54 to take the 184 and give SOU a 39-0 lead with only two bouts to go. Courtney Freeman ended the SOU run with a pin of Hinton in 3:45 to win the 197, and Michael Pezzuto earned a win by forfeit in the 285 to reach the final score of 39-12.
