ASHLAND – The black team won the first six bouts en route to a dominant 83-18 win over the red squad in the 2012 Black & Red Intrasquad Dual Wednesday night at Bob Riehm Arena.

Top-ranked Mitchell Lofstedt (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) opened the exhibition in familiar fashion by pinning his opponent, taking down freshman Jacob Stigall (Hubbard, Ore./North Marion) in 1:14 to set the tone for the night. Jared Miller (Dillingham, Alaska/Dillingham) earned a major decision victory over Ian Rogers (Tigard, Ore./Tigard) in the second bout, and the next four ended with decision victories for the black squad.

Colt Glenn (Pendleton, Ore./Pendleton) handed the red team its first victory of the night with a narrow 4-2 decision victory over Woong Kim (Honolulu, Hawaii/Kalani). That would prove to be one of only five victories the red team would claim out of 26 matches on the evening. Rhett Breed (Durango, Colo./Durango) upset No. 4 Dalton Urrutia (Lebanon, Ore./Lebanon) in a 157-pound bout by a 6-4 decision, and Chris Berg (Ukiah, Calif./Ukiah) earned a narrow 2-0 win over Travis Patrick (Castle Rock, Wash./Castle Rock).

After seven straight black team wins, No. 8 Taylor Johnson (Redmond, Ore./Redmond) pinned Ethan Hinton (Sequim, Wash./Sequim) in just over one minute to earn the red team its fourth victory. Two bouts later, Gadge Farris (Gresham, Ore./Centennial) earned an 8-1 victory over Karl Hunt (Bowen Island, B.C./Bainbridge) in a 197-pound match. Jake Jeffries finished the night off for the black team with a pin of Keith Courtin (Dayton, Ore./Dayton) in a heavyweight bout.

Southern Oregon heads to Forest Grove this weekend for Sunday's Pacific Open and the Raiders' first intercollegiate competition of the year.
