ASHLAND –
Fifteenth-ranked College of Idaho pulled out a close first and second set and put away Southern Oregon in the third as the Coyotes earned the sweep victory over the Raiders Saturday night at Bob Riehm Arena.

Southern Oregon falls to 8-7 overall and 4-1 in conference play, while College of Idaho improves to 9-4 overall and 6-0 in the CCC. The Yotes won the match by set scores of 26-24, 27-25 and 25-16. Southern Oregon returns to action next week, when the Raiders will travel to Washington for a pair of conference road matches. The Raiders will visit Northwest on Friday and Evergreen on Saturday, with both matches starting at 7 p.m.

Haley Kasler (Grants Pass, Ore./Hidden Valley) and Torrey Hulsey tied for the match-high kill total with 13 apiece, while Renee Yomtob (Boise, Idaho/Centennial) posted a match-best 23 digs and Sierra Porter finished with 35 assists. College of Idaho hit .198 in the match while limiting Southern Oregon to a .098 attack percentage to pick up the victory.

College of Idaho scored the first three points of the opener, but Southern Oregon responded with a five-point streak to claim the lead. The Raiders looked like they might pull away soon after, as they used a 15-6 run to pull ahead 15-9 midway through the set. The Yotes worked their way back into it, with Sofia Anxo's kill tying it up at 17 apiece to cap a four-point C of I streak.

The Raiders used a 4-1 run to rebuild a three-point lead, but three consecutive Yote points again tied it at 21-21. The teams exchanged points to tie at 22 and 23 before Jordan Crossley (Napa, Calif./Napa) picked up a kill to give SOU the set-point advantage, but College of Idaho scored the set's final three points and clinched the 26-24 victory on a kill by Kylee Nawahine.

College of Idaho opened strong in the second set as well, scoring the first four points before SOU tied it up at 5-5. A Hulsey kill sparked an 8-2 C of I run that gave the Coyotes a six-point advantage, but the Raiders battled back with a 5-1 run to pull within two.

Southern Oregon hung close through the rest of the set and finally tied it up again when the Raiders twice fought off a set-point disadvantage to even the score at 24-24. A block by Janel Porter and Sierra Porter again gave C of I a set-point opportunity, but Natalie Scheller (Bend, Ore./Bend) blocked Nawahine's attack attempt to tie it up at 25-25 before the Yotes closed out the 27-25 set victory on a kill by Jessica Peacock and an SOU attack error.

The third set was all College of Idaho, as the Yotes scored seven of the first eight points and hardly looked back. Southern Oregon used a four-point streak to pull within two, but C of I responded with another five-point streak to go ahead by seven. The Yotes clinched the set and match victory on a kill by Sofia Anxo to close it out.
