Box Score OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Southern Oregon volleyball team closed out a weekend road sweep with its 18th consecutive victory over Evergreen, defeating the Geoducks 3-0 (25-21, 25-11, 25-19) Saturday afternoon at CRC Gymnasium.
Southern Oregon improves to 10-7 overall and 6-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play, while Evergreen falls to 0-16 overall and 0-7 in the CCC. The Raiders return home for their next matches, hosting Northwest Christian on Friday at 7 p.m. at Bob Riehm Arena.
Natalie Scheller (Bend, Ore./Bend) had a dominant match for the Raiders, posting a .570 attack percentage with 13 kills in the win.
Mona Goudarzian (Albany, Ore./West Albany) added 12 kills, while
Jordan Crossley (Napa, Calif./Napa) added eight and Haley kasler finished with seven.
Caryn Westrick (Bonney Lake, Wash./Bonney Lake) and
Angela Spieker (Bremerton, Wash./Central Kitsap) each finished with 19 assists and
Renee Yomtob (Boise, Idaho/Centennial) added 13 digs.
Cassidy Watkins led both teams with 14 kills for Evergreen, while Hapa Patcho finished with 18 assists and Merideth Gurr and Sonja Arrasi-Nash each added 13 digs.
Evergreen scored the first six points of the opening set, but Southern Oregon used a 16-4 run to turn the six-point deficit into a six-point advantage following back-to-back kills by Goudarzian. The Geoducks battled back to within three points, but Crossley closed out the 25-21 set victory with a kill.
Southern Oregon led throughout the second set, and the Raiders used a 10-point streak to clinch the 25-11 set victory. The third set saw Evergreen lead by as many as four points at 12-8, but the Raiders worked their way back and tied it up at 17-17 before scoring six straight points to pull ahead to the 25-19 win.
