Box Score ASHLAND – With the season extended for at least another match, senior libero Renee Yomtob (Boise, Idaho/Centennial) will have a chance to break the Southern Oregon University volleyball program's career digs record in the Cascade Conference tournament.

Her work Tuesday against Northwest Christian in the quarterfinals of the CCC Championship presented by U.S. Bank turned out to be a big reason why.

Yomtob collected 24 digs and helped control the Beacons' high-risk, high-reward service game in Southern Oregon's 25-15, 25-20, 25-23 win at Bob Riehm Arena. The Raiders (17-9 overall), who entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed, will play at top-seeded College of Idaho in Friday's semifinal round.

The fifth-seeded Beacons closed their season with a record of 17-11. They entered the night with the most service aces in the league, but left having committed 11 service errors with one ace.

Yomtob – an all-CCC performer who is 31 digs away from matching Kristen Lilly's record of 1,647 digs, established in 2005 – was responsible for much of the heavy defensive lifting .

"She was just awesome," SOU head coach Josh Rohlfing said. "She was really good in serve-receive and defensively handled everything distributed across the net. She's playing so well right now, just allowing herself to be free and play."

There were more stars for the Raiders – most notably in the middle. Nikki Keller (Carson City, Nev./Carson) deposited 10 kills, Emma Gasman (Clovis, Calif./Buchanan) had nine, and after the first two sets they had combined to put away 15 balls on 18 swings. Keller was also in on five blocks.

"They were great, and they set up our outsides and right-sides (hitters) to get one-on-ones," Rohlfing said.

That translated to eight kills for Mona Goudarzian (Albany, Ore./West Albany), seven for Paulla Pinheiro (Fortaleza, Brazil/Colegio Farias Brito) and six more from Liz Madden (Manson, Wash./Manson). Goudarzian and Pinheiro both picked up seven digs, too.

Setter Lauren McGowne (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield), the CCC's regular-season leader in assists, exceeded her average with 37 of them while adding six digs and three assisted blocks.

For Northwest Christian, Maren Mansfield had a team-high 10 kills and Chelsea McGowan contributed eight.

The Raiders' only deficit before the third set was 2-1 in the second. In the third, they fell behind 23-22 before a kill by Pinheiro and two straight by Madden put NCU away.

The Beacons swept the first match between the teams in September but dropped six straight sets to the Raiders over the last month. They accumulated 12 aces in the lone win.

Third-seeded Concordia swept No. 6 Oregon Tech in the other quarterfinal and will face No. 2 Eastern Oregon on Friday. The title match will be held Saturday at College of Idaho.
