Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho – The return trip to College of Idaho was considerably shorter than the Southern Oregon University volleyball team had in mind.

SOU's 19th straight winning season came to an abrupt end Friday night in the semifinals of the Cascade Conference tournament when the 22nd-ranked Coyotes swept up and sent the Raiders home by scores of 25-13, 25-10 and 25-21 in 57 minutes.

The Raiders, who lost in last year's semis on the same floor, finished with a record of 17-10. They cornered a five-set decision earlier this season at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center, but this one looked a lot more like C of I's 3-0 win in Ashland on Nov. 2.

Outside hitter Emily Ottinger made it happen again for the top-seeded Coyotes (17-9), racking up 14 kills with a .542 attacking average after putting a career-high 21 kills on the Raiders the last time around. Elisa Brochado added nine kills on 15 swings to help C of I to a season-best .459 team attack.

Conversely, SOU couldn't get its attack going, hitting .155 with just one service ace and four blocks. Mona Goudarzian (Albany, Ore./West Albany) led the way with 10 kills, Paulla Pinheiro (Fortaleza, Brazil/Colegio Farias Brito) had 10 and Lauren McGowne (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) posted 29 assists. Renee Yomtob (Boise, Idaho/Centennial) contributed a team-best 15 digs.

SOU claimed the first point of the first two sets, but C of I never trailed otherwise.

Concordia upset second-seeded Eastern Oregon in the other semifinal and will play for the championship at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Three seniors played their final match in Raider uniforms: Gourdarzian, Yomtob and Liz Madden (Manson, Wash./Manson). The latter two were in the program for the last five years, and Yomtob came just 16 digs away from matching the program's career record, ultimately landing at second on the list with 1,631.
