ASHLAND – The NAIA football season still isn't quite wrapped up, but Austin Dodge (Vancouver, Wash./Skyview)'s historic 2013 campaign has already been recognized along with a couple of his Southern Oregon University teammates.

Dodge, the Raiders' junior quarterback, has been named Beyond Sports Network's NAIA offensive player of the year. Ryan Retzlaff (Medford, Ore./South Medford) was a first-team receiver and Drew Gibson (Medford, Ore./North Medford) a third-team offensive lineman.

Dodge this year broke SOU's record for touchdowns in a season (47) and in a single game (eight). The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder led the nation for the second straight season with 397.5 passing yards per game, completing 66 percent of his attempts (342-for-520) with just 12 interceptions. At one point he registered at least five TD passes in six straight games.

Retzlaff was one of the reasons for Dodge's success, stepping in to help lead a receiving corps that lost nearly everyone from the 2012 NAIA quarterfinal team. The junior South Medford product collected 85 receptions to lead the NAIA and averaged 108.3 receiving yards per game with 12 touchdowns.

Gibson, an offensive tackle, has been a first-team all-conference selection the last two seasons, assisting the Raiders in piling up their two highest yardage averages in school history.

Dodge was previously named the Frontier Conference's offensive MVP and its nominee for NAIA Player of the Year, the recipient of which will be announced after the season.

A couple of unbeatens, Grand View (Iowa) and Cumberlands (Ky.), will match up for the national title this Saturday in Rome, Ga.
