Eleven named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes for fall

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The NAIA announced its last batch of Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes on Friday morning, bringing Southern Oregon University's number of representatives from its fall sports to 11.

In order to be nominated, one must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 and junior academic status.

The Raider cross country team led all sports with five winners: Eric Ghelfi (Redding, Calif./Redding Adventist Academy), Rebecca Lupescu (Portland, Ore./Westview), Dylan Paulk (Portland, Ore./Grant ), Alexandra Rudd (North Bend, Wash./Mount Si) and Tyler VanDyke (Eagle Point, Ore./Eagle Point). Heston Altenbach (Coquille, Ore./Coquille), Daniel Breaux (Greenfield, Calif./Greenfield) and Trevor Kuyper (Redding, Calif./Central Valley) of the SOU football team were honored, Sam Boehnke (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) and Brookelynn Cole (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) represented the volleyball team, and Sydney Paulsen (Loveland, Colo./Thompson Valley) was among the women's soccer honorees.

Kuyper, Paulk, Paulsen and Rudd have been on the list the last two years.
