Raiders lose 70-55 at 10th-ranked Hope International

FULLERTON, Calif. – The 17th-ranked Southern Oregon men's basketball team couldn't come up with answers quick enough to slow down Hope International in a 70-55 loss Friday to the 10th-ranked team in NAIA Division I.

The Lions (2-0 overall) tacked onto an eight-point halftime lead with 11-for-22 shooting in the second half. They were led by Matt Green's 21 points, Kenny Morgan's 12 and Tuff Barnes's 11 off the bench.

Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) scored 20 points for the Raiders (3-1), bringing him to within 16 of Shea Washington's school record total of 1,910. Tim Weber (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) had 15 points on 6-for-9 shooting and Jordan West (Gymea Bay, Australia/Port Hacking) added 12.

Thompson's only 3-pointer tied the game at 22-all at the seven-minute mark in the first half before SOU unfolded. Hope went on a 15-7 run to end the frame and led by as many as 19 in the second half.

SOU's struggles were rooted in a 3-for-16 showing from 3-point range and a 14-for-24 effort at the line.

The Raiders play a 1 p.m. game Saturday at the Hope tournament against Arizona Christian, which is ranked 17th in NAIA Division I.
