SOU scores most lopsided win over Yotes in series history, 112-70

ASHLAND – The College of Idaho women's basketball team had only surrendered 100 points three times in program history prior to Saturday night's Cascade Conference game at Southern Oregon.

The 15th-ranked Raiders got there with five minutes to spare in their 112-70 romp over the Yotes at Riehm Arena, however, shooting a season-best 59.7 percent (42-for-73) from the floor and drilling 11 of their first 15 tries from 3-point range.

SOU (12-1 overall, 3-1 CCC) was led by 22 points from Kristen Schoenherr (Rainier, Wash./Rainier), who went a perfect 6-for-6 from floor with three triples. Bree Park (Bellingham, Wash./Meridian) went 5-for-6 from downtown, Courtney West (Sydney, Australia/Port Hacking) was 7-for-9 with 16 points and nine rebounds, and Alexi Smith (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) totaled 17 points with a career-high nine assists and seven rebounds.

College of Idaho (3-10, 2-2) was outscored 53-21 in the second half. The Yotes were led by Elisha Hensey's 23 points, and Aleah Lowber added 10.

SOU's point total ended up being the fourth-highest in Raider history and the most C of I has ever conceded. It was also the largest margin of victory for either team in series history. The last time the Raiders shot a percentage that high was Nov. 2, 2014, when they hit at a 59.4-percent clip (38-for-64) against California Maritime.

The Yotes – who had won 12 straight in the series against SOU until dropping the teams' final meeting in 2013-14 – kept pace for one half thanks to 45.7-percent shooting overall and a 7-for-13 mark from outside. That percentage dipped to 24.2 percent in the second half.

Raider wing Autumn Durand (Onalaska, Wash./Onalaska) went 6-for-6 with all 14 of her points in the first half.

SOU started the second half by scoring the first 10 points, starting with Schoenherr's 3-pointer and Carly Meister (Elma, Wash./Elma)'s 3-point play. That lead gradually gained steam as Park made all three of her 3-pointers, and Smith's basket-and-one with 5:31 to play made it 101-62.

The Raiders have hit the century mark three times this season. One big key to this occasion was their season-low turnover total of 13. They committed more than 20 turnovers in their previous four games.

Park, a senior guard, is 15-for-24 from 3-point range in SOU's last four games. She's shooting 49.2 percent (32-for-65) out there on the season.

They'll be off now until Jan. 2 and third at Northwest Christian and Corban, the latter of which is the only remaining unbeaten team in the CCC.
