Four Raiders named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes for winter

ASHLAND – Four Southern Oregon University winter athletes have earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete status for the 2013-14 season, the national office announced Monday.

Raider wrestler Woong Kim (Honolulu, Hawaii/Kalani) made the list along with men's basketball players Jeff Bush (West Linn, Ore./West Linn), Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) and Tim Weber (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg). Kim and Bush, both seniors, got the award last year, too.

The NAIA handed out the honor to a total of 134 men's basketball players46 wrestlers. To become eligible, one must maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 and reach junior academic status.

In January, Thompson was also selected to the Captial One College Division Men's Basketball Academic All-District 4 team. He and five other Raider men made the Academic All-Cascade Conference squad.
