Box Score PORTLAND – Southern Oregon will return from its first Cascade Conference volleyball road trip with a split in tow after Concordia provided a better look at the landscape atop the standings Saturday inside Cavalier Gymnasium.

The 15th-ranked Raiders (10-3 overall, 4-1 CCC) had their five-match win streak snapped and dropped their third straight to the Cavs (9-4, 6-0) dating back to last season, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19.

Jenessa Taylor had seven kills, and her 41 assists helped four other Cavs to six or more. Ashley Jibby (13 kills), Lindsey Dorsey (12) and Brianna Hogan (10) were most frequently on the receiving end.

Lauren McGowne (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) tallied 44 assists, 12 digs and five blocks, and Paulla Pinheiro (Fortaleza, Brazil/Colegio Farias Brito) reached 17 kills with 11 digs for the Raiders, but their 32 attacking errors resulted in an .093 attacking average that was too much to overcome.

Emma Gasman (Clovis, Calif./Buchanan) did SOU's most efficient work with 11 kills on 25 swings. Motade Atanda (San Jose, Calif./Presentation)'s 10 kills were offset by 14 errors, though she added 10 digs.

Little came easy for Concordia, whose .190 average was sunk by Nikki Keller (Carson City, Nev./Carson)'s eight assisted blocks. The Cavs prevailed late, however; they won three of the last four points in the first set, five of the last six in the third and never trailed in the fourth.

Pinheiro and Atanda put down SOU's last three points in the second set for its lone win.

SOU's Brookelynn Cole (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) and Concordia's Shantel Gritsch came up with 24 digs apiece.

The Raiders will be back in Ashland for a pivotal homestand next weekend to face two other teams with conference title aspirations – unbeaten Eastern Oregon on Friday and one-loss College of Idaho on Saturday.
