FOREST GROVE/PORTLAND – The second-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling team picked up back-to-back blowout wins Thursday night and in the process clinched its 45th consecutive winning season at Pacific University and Warner Pacific.

The Raiders improved to 10-2 in dual meets, first beating up Pacific 50-3 before bussing over to Warner Pacific for a 42-3 win. SOU registered seven wins by fall in the 14 contested weight classes on the night.

Five of those pins occurred at Pacific as 133-pounder Devin Poppen (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City), 149-pounder Tyler Cowger (Sweet Home, Ore./Sweet Home), 184-pounder Jacob Abrams (The Dalles, Ore./The Dalles-Wahtonka), 197-pounder Taylor Johnson (Redmond, Ore./Redmond) and heavyweight Clayton Burtis (Colton, Ore./Colton) all got in on the action. Of those matches, only Poppen's got out of the first round.

At 157 pounds, fourth-ranked Dalton Urrutia (Lebanon, Ore./Lebanon) scored his first of two technical falls on the night. He nailed his two opponents by a combined score of 31-1.

Besides the forfeits, Trevor Hancock (Pendleton, Ore./Pendleton) grabbed SOU's other points in a shutout decision at 141 pounds.

Pacific got its only win at 174 pounds. The Raiders have won 23 of their last 24 duals against the Boxers.

It was more of the same early on at Warner Pacific, which just brought its program back this season and had already lost 43-6 at SOU on Dec. 18.

Coleman Johns (Placerville, Calif./El Dorado) started with a second-round pin at 125, and Poppen followed with another fall – the fifth in his last six bouts – at 133. Amari Sengsavanh then claimed WPC's only win in an overtime decision over Hancock at 141 before the Raiders shut the Knights out for the remainder of the dual.

Cowger won by forfeit, Urrutia worked his second technical fall, a double-forfeit filled the 165 class and Garrett Urrutia (Lebanon, Ore./Lebanon) stepped up to 174 for the first time this season in a hard-fought 4-2 win over Jesse Johnson.

Abrams' 11-2 major decision rounded out the dual as WPC forfeited the last two classes.

The Raiders will be at ninth-ranked Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Saturday before returning to Pacific on Sunday for the Boxer Open.
