ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon University men's soccer team can push its Cascade Conference record over the .500 mark this weekend with a couple games under the lights at Raider Stadium.

The Raiders, currently 8-3 overall and 3-3 in the CCC, will host Warner Pacific (3-5-1, 1-2-1) on Friday and fellow first-year program Eastern Oregon (2-4, 1-3) on Saturday. Both games start at 7 p.m.

SOU's three CCC wins to this points have been against opponents who are a combined 0-12 in the league and 1-18-1 overall. Brendan Allen and Paul Matyas scored second-half goals Saturday at Northwest Christian as the Raiders salvaged a weekend split.  SOU's three losses, on the other hand, have occurred on the road at 11th-ranked Corban and 15th-ranked Rocky Mountain – the only undefeated teams left in the CCC – and third-place College of Idaho.

NAIA Modified Ratings Percentage Index:  The NAIA MRPI, which is used to select the at-large qualifying teams for and seed the 32-team NAIA Championships, released its first edition of 2015 this week, and it revealed that SOU has been competitive against what computers deem to be some of the best teams in the country. Corban, which the Raiders battled before losing 1-0 in the NAIA Network Game of the Week last Friday, is No. 5 on the list, and Rocky Mountain, which SOU tested in a 3-2 loss, is No. 9. Not on the list is Menlo, but the Oaks are receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 coaches' poll with the only ding on their 7-1-1 record being a 3-1 home loss against the Raiders on Aug. 27.

Quick Hits:
– Allen is up to a seven goals this season, including a league-leading four game-winners. He's done it on just 11 shots on goal for a .550 shot-on-goal percentage. His one assists gives him 15 points to lead the team, just ahead of Ahmon Afenegus (4 goals, 5 assists) and Dakota Marquez (4 goals, 3 assists).
– SOU has scored 15 goals in first halves and 15 goals in second halves this season. Its opponents, however, have scored eight of their 11 goals in the first half.
– The Raiders rank third in the CCC at 3.1 goals per game.
– SOU held the lowly likes of Multnomah, Northwest Christian and Walla Walla to a combined four shots over the past two weeks, allowing only an own goal.

About Warner Pacific: The Knights went 6-7-1 in the CCC last season and have started this year with a challenging schedule. Last weekend they went to overtime twice, tying Carroll (1-1) and losing to Great Falls (1-0). They've scored multiple goals just once in their last six games, but Cesar Esquivel leads the team with five goals and two assists. They were picked to finish seventh in the CCC preseason poll.

About Eastern Oregon: The Mountaineers are currently 11th in the standings, but last weekend took both Great Falls and Carroll to overtime before dropping a pair of 2-1 decisions. They scored a quality win against Northwest, 2-1, and their other victory went 6-0 at Multnomah. Jovan Rovias has two goals and two assists, and Robert Wilson has two goals and one assist. The inaugural EOU men's soccer roster is made up of 13 freshmen, four sophomores and eight juniors.
