EUGENE
– The Southern Oregon men's basketball team was overmatched by University of Oregon's size and quickness Sunday night, dropping an exhibition game 91-40 at Matthew Knight Arena.

The Ducks worked in transition early to take a 19-4 lead, but the Raiders settled in by halftime and went into the break trailing 41-21. SOU's Ben DeSaulnier went 5-for-10 from the field and scored six of team-high 13 points consecutively during the latter part of the half to help the Raiders keep pace.

U of O went on to shoot 15-for-30 from the field and 17-for-20 from the free-throw line in the second half. Tyler Dorsey and Dwayne Benjamin led five players in double figures with 16 points each.

The Ducks blocked eight shots (Chris Boucher had five of them with 13 points), shot 26 more free throws, had nine more steals (14-5) and pulled down 18 offensive boards for an overall advantage of 48-28.

SOU forward Jordan West recorded eight points and six rebounds. Joel Spear and Jordan Browne-Moore had three assists apiece and Kenny Meyer scored five points off the bench.

The Raiders shot 29 percent from the field (17-of-58) and missed 15 of 16 3-point attempts. They had been shooting 43 percent from downtown while starting season 3-1.

They'll return to a more even playing field next Saturday in a nonleague game at Willamette. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

SOU has played for exhibitions against Oregon since the 2005-06 season. This was the first outside of McArthur Court.
